Construction of the Potter fire alarm system:

POTTER Fire alarm system overview

I. Components in the Potter FAS.

Fire Alarm Control Panel:
Potter Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel have 2 series are: IPA series and AFC series.
Potter addressable control panel can be used in all size of project from small to big
The different between IPA series and AFC series
IPA Series
  • Close protocol
  • The number address can be expanded up to 4064 points in IPA-4000
  • UL listed and FM approved for both water (Deluge valve, Pre-action valve) and chemical agent releasing (FM200, N2, CO2…)
  • UL864 listed for smoke control
AFC Series
  • Open protocol
  • Expanding up to 1270 points in AFC-1000
  • UL listed and FM approved for water releasing only (Deluge valve, Pre-action valve)
  • No smoke control
  • Potter conventional and releasing control panel
SLC Loops-Connecting the signal from detectors, modules, manual pulls

SLC loop in the board

Up to 127 devices in any combination and 127 addressable bases
Up to 3km loop using #14 Awg or Resistor below 50Ω
Addressable SLC detectors and bases
Potter fire alarm system have detectors such as photoelectric smoke detector, Fixed and ROR heat detector, Photo/heat detector, Duct detector, etc. Addressable smoke detector can be programed a sensitivity range from 1.0%- 3.7% per foot and set up sensitivity by night or day. In additional, Addressable heat detector is UL listed a selectable fix temperature point from 135oF to 185oF and can used for Rate of Rise applications.
Addressable bases: Sounder base, Relay base, Isolator base, etc

SLC detectors and bases

Modules and Manual pull stations:
Like others fire alarm system, Potter also have a lot of modules to connect to system:
  • Input module: Dual input module (PAD100-DIM), Single input module (PAD100-SIM), Mini input module (PAD100-MIM)
  • Monitor conventional detector: Zone module (PAD100-ZM)
  • Control module: Notification module (PAD100-NAC), Speaker module (PAD100-SM), Relay module (PAD100-RM)
  • Addressable manual pull station: Single action (PAD100-PSSA), Dual action (PAD100-PSDA)

Addressable module and manual pull station

Some Potter modules have ability to connect multiple devices at the same time without wasting additional addresses in the loop. For example: Module PAD100-TRTI have set with address No. 001. The module has 2 inputs and 2 outputs, total have 4 devices can be connected to module with addresses are 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4. Those addresses shall be individual programed in system.

Addressable in PAD100-TRTI

Potter Protocol devices are now programmed through easy-to use dip-switches. This makes it easier than ever to address SLC devices on-site and requires no external hardware.

Dip-Switch

Important Note! Set the address via the device’s Dip Switch before connecting to the SLC!
P-Link Circuit- Extending port the function for system

P-Link in the board

4 conductor copper or fiber
Non-twisted, non-shielded wire.
Up to 6,500 feet (2 km) using #14 AWG
PSN1000(E) panels can be used to extend the P-Link wiring distance.
Cards can be connected to P-Link:

Power Supply:
For large projects, the FACP power can’t provide enough devices. The solution we need is sub power supply. The Sub-power supply shall be connected to the system through P-Link. Each of Sub-power supply will add 10A with 6 outputs and 4 inputs. Besides add more power for the system, the Sub-power supply can be used to extend the P-Link wiring distance to more 2km and place to mount cards extension

Sub-power supply connection in system

Up to 31 Sub-power supply can be added to the system
IP Connectionip

Ethernet connection port

Each of addressable Potter fire control unit has a Ethernet connection port where PC can be connected directly to panel to allow data to be transferred between the PC and panel. Easier connection through Ethernet cable, eliminating hardware, converter, gateways.
With today’s ever-expanding means of communication, it’s important to be able to incorporate the same technology into your fire control system. We took this technology into account when we designed IP connectivity within our new panels. By eliminating the cost of phone lines, save big when using your building’s existing network infrastructure. Additionally, the speed of IP communication allows for event information to be sent to the central station within seconds.
Potter IP-enabled fire alarm systems are email ready. History and Detector Status reports can be sent on demand as either a text or Excel file for a professional look. The status events of the panel can be immediately emailed allowing users to be proactive in servicing customers.
Reports and the configuration file can be requested from the panel at any time by sending an email directly to the panel. Additionally, enhance your business by creating email reminders for your customers to schedule system tests or even to purchase new batteries

II. Potter Life Safety Software:

With the goal of creating an easy and fast interaction environment between users and the POTTER fire alarm
system, POTTER has created software that can help managers to monitor the fire alarm system at all times and anywhere in the world.
Facility Management Tool Software
  • FMT software is FREE to monitoring POTTER fire alarm system
  • Up to 255 series panels may be connected simultaneously
  • System status are indicated by color codes:
  •                 Red: Alarm
                    Yellow: Trouble and Supervisory
                    Green: Restores
  • View the event information using the virtual keypad
  • Sort, Filter, or Group events by Panel Name, Date/Time, Event Description, or Event Type. Export events to Microsoft Excel™ or Microsoft Word™

BacNetLink

Potter IntelliviewLink
IntelliviewLink software
Monitor your fire panel from anywhere in the world with industry leading smart features. Reduce labor and time with unique fire system walk test features. Panels will deliver push notifications of every point status change and all activity will be saved to history. The fire panel’s walk test mode will allow users to control the panel through the app – Acknowledge, Silence, Reset, Enable, Disable, Drill.
Comparably, traditional walk tests require more time and labor to conduct. With one tester, they must walk from the panel to each device and back, requiring far more time to test. Using two testers who radio between the panel and device may save time but requires additional labor costs and coordination. Get the best of both worlds with IntelliView and save time and money!
PotterNet-Graphic Monitoring Control Software
  • Connect up to 1000 Potter panels in a single building, local campus, or multiple sites worldwide using LAN/WAN/Internet
  • 300,000 point capacity
  • BACnet/IP client for monitoring legacy fire systems
  • 15 PotterNet Stations Per System
  • 3 million signals history capacity
  • Live and recorded mass notification paging
